Mykixspace was founded by 23 year old Joseph O Njoku-Obi III who was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. He grew up in the unforgiving streets of the Bayview Hunters Point district where he developed a love for sneakers.

At first it started out as means to escape the jokes and laughter of the fellow kids whose parents would by them the flyest kicks, (Air Jordans and Penny’s at the time) a lot of the time with welfare checks. Obi’s parents were working to hard to provide a future for him to worry about spending a good portion of their checks on some brand new shoes. So at the tender age of 11 Obi started working at his grandmother’s daycare and in her backyard to save money to buy shoes. His first pair of shoes were the Gary Payton “Glove’s” original black/white colorway. “I felt like I was on top of the world when I opened that brown orange and black box knowing there weren’t hand me down under the lid” Obi said.  From the age of 11 Obi never stopped and still owns the box (even though the shoes are thrashed) with receipt to show faith of where he started and where he’s headed. “I just wanted to create something that would remind collectors and other sneaker enthusiast about original days of sneaker hunting and the passion those OG heads have and still do”. Making his way into high school he met up with who he calls his mentor Kenole (In picture above on right side) who at the time “… was simply shutting the game down”. “He’d come up to school in something crazy like 99 retro cement air Jordan IVs or David Robinson Uptempos with the forest green air bubble and I was like who is this cat”. When the two met up is when Obis collection begin to rise to the upwards of 100 pairs. “We’d go to any campout any hot release any store just to stay the freshest”.  A laugh started when Obi continued to say, “That’s not that much. I mean it’s a lot but there are so many sneaker heads and collectors (DJ Clark Kent) that are in their 30’s and 40’s that have way more than me. I’m basically not worth mentioning”.  The humble Obi-Wan till this day still collects and GET THIS SNEAKER HEADS actually likes camping out. “I get to network and communicate and listen to other people’s stories and I never get tired of it”. Obi’s also driven across states to purchase shoes in a beat 89 Honda civic with 226,000 miles on it. “I’ve driven to Las Vegas, flown to NY, hands down I will go anywhere to purchase the hottest kix”. It is fair to say that Obi is an avid collector just like anyone of you reading this section right now and that’s why Mykixspace.com is dedicated to the sneaker community.
